Transatlanticism - Death Cab For Cutie

Mon Nov 12, 2007, 2:35 AM
The Atlantic was born today and I'll tell you how
The clouds above opened up and let it out

I was standing on the surface of a perforated sphere
When the water filled every hole
And thousands upon thousands made an ocean
Making islands where no island should go
Oh, no

Most people were overjoyed; they took to their boats
I thought it less like a lake and more like a moat
The rhythm of my footsteps crossing flatlands to your door
Have been silenced forevermore
The distance is quite simply much too far for me to row
It seems farther than ever before
Oh, no

I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer

I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer
I need you so much closer

So come on, come on
So come on, come on
So come on, come on
So come on, come on

Everybody Here Wants You - Jeff Buckley

Sat Oct 20, 2007, 1:35 AM
This is possibly the most beautifully seductive song on earth.

Twenty-nine pearls in your kiss
A singing smile
Coffee smell and lilac skin
Your flame in me
Twenty-nine pearls in your kiss
A singing smile
Coffee smell and lilac skin
Your flame in me
I'm only here for this moment
I know everybody here wants you
I know everybody here thinks he needs you
I'll be waiting right here just to show you
How our love will blow it all away
Hmm, such a thing of wonder in this crowd
I'm a stranger in this town
You're free with me
And our eyes locked in downcast love
I sit here proud
Even now you're undressed in your dreams with me
Oh, I'm only here for this moment
I know everybody here wants you
I know everybody here thinks he needs you
I'll be waiting right here just to show you
How our love will blow it all away
I know the tears we cried
Have dried on yesterday
The sea of fools has parted for us
There's nothing in our way
My love
Don't you see, don't you see?
You're just the torch to put the flame to all our guilt and shame
And I'll rise like an ember in your name
I know I, I know I
I know everybody here wants you
I know everybody here thinks he needs you
I'll be waiting right here just to show you
Oh let me show you
That love can rise, rise just like embers
Love can taste like the wine of the ages, oh babe,
And I know they all looks so good from a distance
But I tell you I'm the one
I know everybody here, well, thinks he needs you
Thinks he needs you
And I'll be waiting right here just to show you.

Your cloud - Tori Amos

Tue Oct 9, 2007, 3:30 AM
My interpretation of these beautiful lyrics are that it is showing us that something so natural and beautiful as nature cannot separate 'logically'..and neither can we rationalise our feelings, which are equally as beautiful..

Where the river cross
crosses
the lake
Where the words
Jump off my
pen and
into your pages
Do you think
just like that
You can divide
This
You as yours
Me as mine
to before we were
Us

If the rain
Has
to separate from
Itself
does it say
"pick out your
cloud?"
pick out your
cloud

If there is a Horizontal Line
that runs from the MAP
off your body straight through
the Land shooting up
right through my heart
Will this Horizontal Line
when asked know how to find
Where you end
where I begin
"pick out your
cloud"

How Light can
play and form a Ring
of Rain that can change
bows into arrows
I found a thrill

Who we were
isn't lost
Before we were
Us
Indigo in his
own
Blue always
knew
this
if the rain
Has
to separate from
Itself
does it say
pick out your
cloud

If there is a Horizontal Line
that runs from the MAP
off your body straight through
the Land shooting up
right through my heart
Will this Horizontal Line
when asked know how to find
Where you end
where I begin
"pick out your
cloud"

if the rain
Has
to separate from
Itself
does it say
pick out your
cloud
